Liberia’s Chief Medical Officer, Bernice Dahn has been placed under quarantine after one of her assistants died fromEbola, Reuters reports.
Dahn, who is also the country’s deputy health minister, submitted herself for observation and is the latest senior health worker to be directly affected by the current outbreak.
Dr. Sheik Umar Khan, who was at the forefront of the fight against Ebola in Sierra Leone, got infected himself and died in July.
Liberia's deputy information minister, Isaac Jackson told Reuters:
"She has placed herself under self-observation due to the fact that her special assistant contracted the virus"
"If everyone were to do what Dr. Dahn has done, Liberia would be free of Ebola” he added
